MTA Bus Operators Hiring Event
Challenge:
With 2,000 bus operator positions open, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), North America’s largest transportation network, faced a driver shortage crisis. They needed an effective recruitment strategy to attract qualified candidates quickly.
The biggest hurdle was to fill these positions in a timely manner across an expansive 5,000 square mile area encompassing New York City, Long Island, southeastern New York State, New Jersey and Connecticut. More importantly, they needed to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates.
Strategy:
Miller developed a recruitment strategy that cast a wide net. We used a mix of digital and traditional methods including eye-catching posts on social media, local community websites and newspapers. To capitalize on the created interest, a one-day recruitment job fair was held in Brooklyn, NY – a central location easily accessible to a large number of potential candidates.
Results:
The one-day recruitment event exceeded expectations. Attendance surged by 50% compared to what the MTA anticipated. The campaign generated over 645,000 impressions, sparking significant interest. Over 11,900 clicks directed potential hires to the MTA’s career website for detailed information.

The main hurdle lay in swiftly filling these positions while tapping into a diverse talent pool spanning the expansive 5,000 square mile travel area around New York City, Long Island, southeastern New York State and Connecticut.
